The visit to amazing India can't be complete without experiencing their many magnificent bit of architecture -- the Taj Mahal, virtually'the Top Palace '. This photograph postcard image of the Taj, as it is lovingly called, does little justice to the tale, the poetry and the relationship stitched in to their history. Their elegance is eternal. It overawes, it mesmerizes, and it inspires. The Indian Nobel laureate Rabindranath Tagore aptly identifies it as,'a teardrop on the cheek of time '.
Who developed it and why?
The annals with this popular monument is really as intriguing as their architectural brilliance. The story goes that the Mughal Emperor Shah Jehan, reigning around India in the fifteenth century, was committed to Begum Arjumand Banu, greater known as the beautiful Mumtaz Mahal. The four minarets, each around one hundred legs tall with sophisticated windowed cupolas, rise up from the corners with this plinth, giving the monument their quality look that continues to endear it to the world.
